Video Surveillance Framework for Crime Prevention and Event Indexing

چکیده
The paper will present a video surveillance and event detection and annotation framework for semi-supervised surveillance use. The system is intended to be used in automatic mode on camera feeds that are not actively watched by surveillance personnel, raising alarms and enrolling annotation data when unusual events occur. We present the current detector filters, and the easily extendable modular interface. Current filters include local and global unusual motion detectors, left object detector, motion detector, tampering/failure detector, etc. The system stores the events and associated data, which can be organized, searched, annotated and (re)viewed. It has been tested in real life situation for police street surveillance, and we are working towards developing a deployable version.

Video surveillance automation is used in two key modes: watching for known threats in real-time and searching for events of interest after the fact. Typically, real-time alerting is a localized function, e.g. an airport security center receives and reacts to a “perimeter breach alert,” while investigations often tend to encompass a large number of geographically distributed cameras like the Lon...

This paper presents a semantic video-object model for e cient storage, indexing and content/event-based retrieval of real-time surveillance video without reverting to the constant re-interpretation of source and thus avoiding timeconsuming analysis of every video surveillance query. Based on the work on object tracking carried out at the Digital Image Research Centre (DIRC) at Kingston Universi...
متن کاملApplying design ideas to promote security of urban spaces
Security is one of the most critical factors affecting the quality of urban spaces. Nowadays, most of these spaces have become merely pathways with neither social life nor sense of belonging to it. Insufficiency of public surveillance along with weak sense of control and surveillance results in spaces with high crime rate. In the late 60s and early 70s, high crime statistics in open urban space...
